My Secret Pixel Past 1990-1996 by pickassoreborn My Secret Pixel Past 1990-1996 by pickassoreborn
OHMYGOD! It's HERE!

In one big push, this is a vast majority of my Pixel Art from the years 1990-1996. This is a follow up to My Secret Pixel Past - [link] - though this is a much more encompassing of my progression though the 6-7 years I spent producing Pixel Art on my humble SAM Coupe with no mouse or stylus, just a keyboard. Looking through the other bits of Pixel Art which didn't make it, I can see the evil of using filters. I used Flash a lot, then SAM Paint, where sadly I was tempted to the dark side of quick-flick filters and crazy typography effects.

Which is why those haven't made it to this dev. They suck.

I'm also submitting this as a print as well, with everything earned from that going back into the DA community as Deviant Dollars or whatever the heck they are. Still, I hope you enjoy this, I think I'm totally spent on Pixel Art submissions now from all this... there will still be the odd blast from the past when it's unearthed, and maybe even some newly-created Pixel Art! I keep harping about it, really should do summat about it one day...

Thank you for the support, it's deeply appreciated.

Warning - 56kers will have a bit of a headache in full view, it's about 2.4Mb of image.

Thank you for the feedback!

Yeah, Earthworm Jim - I used a A4 advert for the Shiny Entertainment game and wrangled the image by eye. Happy(ish) days.

Damn, that's very impressive. It makes me wish that I wasn't so young back in the days of oldschool gaming and pixelart.

Like everyone's said, you really should start pixeling more, I like this style more than your new stuff.

I've ordered a print of this, can't wait for it to arrive.

Thank you for the kind words and support! I miss those old skool pixel-art days too, particularly staring at loading screens waiting for games to load. I'll get some more pixel art together as soon as I find some free time to myself...!

Absolutely great man... I just can open my mouth and stare in front of that big amount of incredible pixel art pieces... It is amazing that you made them all just with a keyboard and few colours. I adore people who with minimum technology can do even better than others with the maximum, using excellent skills and tons of patience.
Goes directly to my favourites, and remains in my memory.
Cheers,

I wish I had done the Sonic 2 splash screen..!

That was actually my 16 colour interpretation of it from a blurry image from a magazine :D That was when I was staring close at screenshots looking for pixel techniques.

Sonic 2 though. Best Sonic game ever..!

What you said about reducing your possibilities sounds very good. A great experience you made :)

I think itīs so weird what happened in these years. Weīve grown up with these products. Whole generations. Now we have 512mb Graphiccards and play realistic games with sensors .. you donīt even have to take a joystick in your hands. Thatīs really scary sometimes.

Wonderful memories when i think of sonic, secret of mana and mario. Very nice idea ;)

that guy you made for football league manager is gonna fall down when he kicks that ball...
his other leg should be standing on the ground while the other is swung backwards, held ready to kick it bigtime.
other than that (and sorry for being such an antfucker :)) i have nothing to say but "wow man, thats amazing. ur like a scanner of some kind maybe? :p"
so thats what i'll say, forget the rest and just keep those images coming ;)

Ta for the heads up, though I fear it'll be too late to correct. Ah, well. Altering pixel work of the past is akin to digging up big ol' tombs and chucking bones of the deceased about...

no need to alter, just a tiny mistake that becomes big when you pay attention to it.
just make some new pixelstuff, u obviously mastered the techniques
